Hello, everyone,
As promised, the "citation" discussion group is now on-line with
this first message. Coming back from the "The Official Version" conference in
Toronto where we met most of you, there is much to say on the topic of
our shared interest. More specifically, I'll just say in this inaugural
message that we feel we were able to assess the situation, or climate,
in which this initiative is to progress. This is, in my opinion the main
benefit we brought back.
Might I suggest a first round of comments on this opinion? This way
we'll all get more familiar with the workings of this discussion list.
As to language, I am informed that some of us do not read French, so
we'll use English. If it ever comes up that someone needs translation to
English, I'll be happy to provide it.
We use ListServ. Here are the basics :
messages are posted when sent to the list at :
<citation@crdp.umontrel.ca>;
replying to a message dispatched by ListServ (or any other such
software) will broadcast to all subscribers;
I added your names to the list, but usually, one would subscribe by
sending the following message to <listserv@crdp.umontreal.ca> :
subscribe citation <First name> <Last name> (no brackets when used)
as well, getting off the wagon is done with :
signoff citation
Much more is available, but it's seldom used. Hardy souls wanting to
learn more can from L-Soft, the maker of ListServ, by reading the online
files LISTSERV REFCARD and LISTSERV GENINTRO, which can be obtained by
sending the following commands in the body of a mail message to
LISTSERV@LISTSERV.NET:

INFO GENINTRO
The user's manual is available at
