Extracting Metadata From the Body of Documents
Getting usable HTML and PDF files out of original Word documents is one of the first steps to take in the operation of a legal information website, but it is not enough in itself. In addition to the full text of documents, modern legal information systems also need to be fed more or less metadata.

Scanning and processing decisions for the Law Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador 
The Law Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador provided funding to make historical court decisions from this province rendered before 2003 freely available on the CanLII website.  Lexum identified the decisions, scanned them, generated word processing versions, converted them to HTML and PDF, and published the resulting files online.

Converting Word Files for the Web
Generating cleaner, more structured Word files is one thing. Converting them into file formats adapted for the web is another. Legal information websites require HTML and PDF versions that need to be converted in some way from the original Word files. Of course anyone can use the “Save as” feature of Word for this purpose, but doing so creates two difficulties.

The Decisions of the Chief Military Judge are Now Made Available with Decisia
In order to promote access to courts martial results and decisions, the Department of National Defence integrated Decisia to the Chief Military Judges (CMJ) website. The new decision website not only provides information about rendered decisions, but also includes details about ongoing courts martial.
