Lexum is proud to announce that Decisia will be used to provide access to the decisions and certified tariffs of the Copyright Board of Canada (CB) on its redesigned website to be launched later in 2019.
The CB opted for Decisia to offer advanced legal research capabilities to its website users. Approximately 1,000 decisions and tariffs will be migrated from the CB current website to Decisia, with multiple relations linking documents among each other’s. Among other search filters, it will now become possible to search documents by collective society.
The CB becomes the 18th Canadian federal institution to adopt Decisia.
The Copyright Board of Canada (the “Board”) is an economic regulatory body empowered to establish, either mandatorily or at the request of an interested party, the royalties to be paid for the use of copyrighted works, when the administration of such copyright is entrusted to a collective-administration society. The Board also has the right to supervise agreements between users and licensing bodies and issues licences when the copyright owner cannot be located.
