The Reports of the Exchequer Court of Canada Now Available Online

Decisions from the Reports of the Exchequer Court of Canada (1891-1922) and the Canada Law Report (1923-1970) have been digitized and published on the Canada Federal Courts Reports (FCR) website powered by Decisia.  This is a total of 74 volumes and close to 3,000 historical decisions that were scanned and processed for publishing by Lexum on behalf of the Office of the Commissioner for Federal Judicial Affairs Canada (FJA).

Full volumes can be accessed from a resource collection in Decisia, and individual decisions will now appear in results when searching the FCR.  Decisions are published using the images of the files for display, and an XML version of the content for indexing purposes, assembled in one HTML file.  This approach unique to Lexum enables to reduce processing cost while enabling users to select text, highlight keywords into context, and build cross-references.

This project is the second historical scanning project completed by Lexum for the FJA over the last year (read about the first one here). Now that it is completed the coverage of the FCR website dates back to the creation of the Federal Courts in 1876.
