Join Lexum at LEGCOMM, the first annual Legislative Communication Conference in Montreal from June 10 to 12, 2014. Ivan Mokanov, Executive Director at Lexum and Pierre-Paul Lemyre, Director of Business Development will both take part in round tables to discuss transparency and open data.

The topic of transparency & recent innovations in the online delivery of Legislation will be addressed by Pierre-Paul Lemyre during the round table discussions. Some of the points to be covered include:

  • Linking with case law and secondary material
  • Alternative approach to point-in-time legislation
  • Responsive design for legislation
  • Allowing Off-line storage and access
  • Adapting front-ends (UI) to back-end drafting/consolidation systems with various levels of sophistication (XML, Word)

Ivan Mokanov will discuss Open Data initiatives as open government data standards is becoming a hot topic these days. He will explore new ideas on making regulatory material more accessible and address the following points:

  • Relationship between Legal Information Institutes (LII) and Open data
  • The demand for legislative APIs
  • Current awareness tools based on case law consideration of legislation
  • Alternative formats, ex: HTML, PDF, ePub
