Lexum is proud to announce the launch of AI summaries for the legislation of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Prince Edward Island on CanLII, extending the case law AI enrichment services we initially announced last year and which already power over 200,000 documents.
Here is an example of the ABC Benefits Corporation Act available at: https://www.canlii.org/en/ab/laws/stat/rsa-2000-c-a-1/latest/rsa-2000-c-a-1.html#summary
Around 92% of consolidated statutes and regulations from the four provinces have been enhanced. With this announcement, CanLII now offers AI enrichments for a large part of primary legal information in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and PEI. Once again, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Law Foundations of these provinces for their generous funding and support of this project.
Lexum’s AI summaries enhance access to primary legal information by making it more accessible and understandable. Our concise and accurate summaries ensure that legal professionals and the public can quickly grasp essential details without having to wade through extensive documents.
Our tried and approved method links each assertion included within the summaries to the original document whenever possible, ensuring transparency and verifiability. This approach mitigates the risk of inaccuracies and hallucinations. Users can easily navigate from the summary to the full text, ensuring they have access to comprehensive and precise legal information.
We should also mention that Lexum’s AI legislative enrichments are available in both official languages: for the documents available in French, French summaries are also provided.
It is our vision to eventually provide similar, and even improved, AI-powered enrichments for a vast majority of the documents available on CanLII. Our goal is to support Canadian legal researchers from coast to coast with AI enrichments, and we believe we are on the right track to achieve it. Make sure to keep an eye open for upcoming announcements about the expansion of this project to other provinces over the months to come.
