The 2013 edition of the Law via the Internet Conference will be held in Jersey, the largest of the Channel Islands on 26 and 27 September. The conference theme this year is “Free Access to Law in a Changing World.”
It was 11 years since the Declaration on Free Access to Law was signed in Montreal and the Free Access to Law Movement (FALM) was founded during a similar conference organized by Lexum. Since then the movement has grown to include organizations from more than 50 countries and recent Law Via the Internet conferences have already been held in Africa, Asia and North America.
The Director of Business Development at Lexum, Pierre-Paul Lemyre, will identify how providers of legal information can truly benefit from the cloud. Lexum is a leader in this area and offers a range of products to facilitate the management and publishing of online legal information.
Frédéric Pelletier, Director of legal information at Lexum, will address practical aspects of the implementation of accessible on-line judgments (which can be easily accessed by the visually impaired). Posting accessible decisions on the web entail specific challenges that can be overcome by using advanced processing techniques.
