The Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA), the regulatory authority overseeing Alberta’s real estate industry, has chosen Norma to modernize the publication and management of its disciplinary and regulatory decisions.
This collaboration is part of a broader digital transformation initiative aimed at strengthening the transparency, consistency, and efficiency of the Council’s administrative document management processes.
A Transition Toward a Connected Digital Environment
As part of its modernization efforts, RECA sought an all-in-one platform that could seamlessly integrate with its existing systems and evolve alongside its needs.
With its REST API and advanced automation capabilities, Norma enables the creation of an interoperable ecosystem in which RECA’s systems — including its licensing database and internal management tools — communicate fluidly with one another, eliminating duplicate data entry.
By integrating Norma into its digital infrastructure, RECA will provide the public with unified, consistent, and up-to-date access to information about professionals and the decisions rendered in their regard.

The RECA website provides a search tool for browsing disciplinary decisions, strengthening transparency and consumer protection.
Intelligent Document Management with the Expiration Scheduler
Following technical and strategic meetings with Lexum’s teams, RECA opted for a configuration of Norma that combines performance, flexibility, and scalability — notably including an automated content expiration management feature.
In line with its publication and privacy policies, RECA wanted to automate the withdrawal of certain public decisions after a defined period of time.
To meet this need, Lexum has developed a dedicated feature within Norma — the Expiration Scheduler — that will move expired decisions to an ”On Hold” status after a certain delay, while maintaining synchronization with CanLII.
This feature reflects Norma’s modern approach to document lifecycle management, which balances transparency, compliance, and privacy protection.

The Recent Additions section displays the final decisions and administrative penalties published by RECA, offering quick access to the most recent disciplinary documents.
By adopting Norma, the Real Estate Council of Alberta takes a decisive step toward the complete digitization of its publication and archiving workflows.
This initiative demonstrates RECA’s commitment to facilitating access to regulatory information while ensuring the efficient, secure, and compliant management of its documents.
